and your little dog, too

Well, the experiment I set out to do last week worked well, and I think I'm going to continue using my phone to write. I like laying down and flopping around while writing, which is why most of it is still in notebooks. Old style notebooks, you know, the ones with paper in them. You need a stylus like object with lead or ink... yeah.

Also, my little experiment has received some notice.

On another note, I'm going to set 'Translating' aside and see if I can finish 'Magpie', a classic style fairy-tale. It's dark and yet beautiful. There's not a whole lot of dialogue, because it's not necessary to establish the story. I think writing about a young girl's escape may help me to escape long enough to recover from all the events of the past two weeks. I like that I'm finally able to write through almost anything, but there's still more room for improvement on that front.

I don't want to give away the premise or plot to this right away, as it's not going to be very long. I'm sure I can find something to show the style it's written in, at least.

Only flecks of light reached past the mighty branches above. To Maggie, it looked like stars in the night-sky. She paused a moment to take in the quiet beauty around her. She wondered what it would be like to live in such a place. Maggie laid on the ground and stared up at where the sky should be, but all was green. Tiny bits of sunlight danced across her skin as she immersed herself in what she believed was paradise.

I've had a lot of fun writing all of these. I can see 'Translating' needing more editing and tweaking than others, because it's based around real thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Thus far, I have enjoyed all of this far beyond what I had even hoped for.

What day is it?

Seems the write-a-thon goal for this week is more to my liking. I still need to finish the next Shadowfist issue, but for this week, my goal is to write 1k words per day on JUST 'translating'. I started with that idea and fell a little short, which I'm going to make up today. Life for me lately has been an obstacle course, and not like on of those foam-flying, slime-covered ones you see on Nickelodeon. Mine is more like that impossible ninja show where not even the strongest or fastest men in the world can complete them. I love that show, by the way.

Anyhow, I'm not the type to tackle everything at once and remain standing after is all said and done. I'm more for working on the hardest part first and finishing the day with something easy. I'll take note of the progress and will finish it by the end of next week. Then I put about 80% of it off until the day before and pull it out of my ass.

Yeah, for me, working on this thing is all about discipline.

Ready for an excerpt?

My description of an orange in my head:

“Bright and round, with a texture that is both rough and supple, its scent dances through me as I peel its exterior away to reveal the sweet treasure within.”

What others hear:

“It can roll and mix with good or bad stuff and I like the skin feel of tearing it open still nice and easy to remember.”

Life happens when you least expect it.

Well, I got notification that I have someone who sponsored me, and that just about made my day! My computer has been out of commission for a week, but I got an iphone app that I can write with, so I've still been getting work done. Life can throw whatever it wants at me right now, as I'm stubborn enough to wade through the mess and climb out the other side!

Nothing is real. Everything exists as a stream of electric pulses through various points of the body to the brain. They are given labels and then those labels are tested. Pushing the fold we understand to be reality is often called art. Art is the denial of reality and the acceptance of beauty within chaos.

Though this piece currently lacks direction, I'm getting much of the meat out on paper to be shuffled around when I do know what sort of format I'll be using. Thank you for sponsoring me!

Life's Foibles

Though it may seem as if I've dropped off the face if the planet, I am indeed still here. There were a few days in there where sleep was all I could manage to make it through to the next day. I had originally set a goal to do at least 7k words per week. Being that I've fallen short for various reasons, I'm going to up the ante, so to speak. My only hope is that those who follow me will do the same to support me.

Hahahaha! Or something...

Okay, so yesterday was the first day of the write-a-thon, and I got myself off to a good start with 1,661 words. Today was far less productive (so far) but I got a lot of things sorted out on paper, so I'm satisfied. I need to remember there are other things to do, like eating and sleeping, but I digress.

I thought I'd post an excerpt from yesterday's work, you know, just for the hell of it :)

If you look down at the ground, you see the grass. In spring; it’s fresh, young, and vibrant. Continue staring and you’ll see every aspect of it, from the base above the root to the tip of a single blade. Look in further on that blade, for there is more beyond. Now your mind is filled with green, with symmetry, with the faint but all-encompassing feeling of new life and of growth. Look further, deeper into the cells whose processes make for many semesters of learning to understand fully. Beyond that there is yet more. Every cell has a part and each part is made of smaller units. Billions of tiny objects lay before you, frail and beautiful. Now take a step forward. You are now on top of the world.

The good thing about writing this, is I don't need to be 'in the mood' or 'lucid' to write. Even if it comes out as gibberish, I'll learn something new and thus add a new 'translation' to my work.

Oh yeah, I have one of those website things...

The write-a-thon isn't far away! If you haven't seen it yet (no clue how you would have gotten by me), you can sponsor me here: http://www.theclarionfoundation.org/writeathon/wrtn-writerpage.php?writerID=3566

Also, after much fighting with various free hosting sites, I decided they weren't for me and now have my own site here: http://esotericinwhite.com/

Ahhh, the beauty and power of my own domain. Anyhow, a few days of rest and then it's back to writing... stuff.

Rising before the sun

I awoke at 6am this morning and walked outside to watch the sunrise. I instead watched the clouds roll in from the southeast. The sun did the best it could so that every time there was a break in the cloud cover, a ray of light touched the ground. It was very inspiring. I think I'm ready for the work ahead of me today.

I'll be working on my website in addition to writing for an other obligation. I have a temporary site set up here .

Keep checking back for more updates as I count down to what may be the death of me. Don't think I can do it? Place a wager by the word, sentence, page, or whatever. Think I can do it? Good, now show me you believe and I may have a book done by the end of the six weeks! Thanks :)

Clarion and the Write-A-Thon

Hey! All of you strange people whom follow me for lord knows what reason. I have some great news. I have been selected to participate in Clairion’s yearly write-a-thon! The write-a-thon needs sponsors just like you to help. All proceeds go to the Clairion foundation and its yearly workshop. I will be working on a piece I call “Translating” that I’ve been meaning to get serious on writing for a while. This will be the push I need to help me get there!

You can help support me more by sponsoring me in this event. You can sponsor by the word, sentence, page, or give a lump sum if you like. The top sponsors will get something special.
http://www.theclarionfoundation.org/writeathon/wrtn-writerpage.php?writerID=3566 ßmore info with an excerpt from my upcoming project.

The event starts on the 26th of June and runs for 6 weeks, during which time, I have vowed to write my poor, little fingers off. If you have any questions, you can message me here or at EsotericInWhite@gmail.com

Thank you :)

Hidden Agenda

Finishing my website is proving to be more of a hassle than it's worth. I may just scrap it in place of something easier for now. On the agenda for today: haircut, writing, laundry, writing, updating and linking all of my social networking sites, and yet MORE writing. I can feel the procrastination setting in already :)

As Time Flies By

Okay, so I was all set to reveal something today and start in an interesting endeavor. Alas, I haven't set everything up as of yet, so that'll have to wait until another time, which is likely when you'll be seeing this for the first time. If that's not the case, then hello, you're a bit early, come back later :p
